I met Audre Lorde in the 1980s through my life partner Angela Bowen.
I was an independent radio producer at WBGH-FM Boston at the time,
so it was natural for me to want to interview Audre Lorde. Because the manager at WGBH-FM was a feminist and lesbian, Carol Pierson, I was hired to produce documentaries and live radio specials. I spent many hours under the headphones bent over a reel-to-reel tape deck with razor blade in hand, editing what became the Radio Profile of Audre Lorde and later, Lorde’s readings from Sister Outsider and Zami, some of which I will be posting here.
I hope you will be as inspired by her life’s work as I continue to be.
